Nevin Scrimshaw, 1918-2013

Please join us as we share memories of Dr. Scrimshaw’s life and celebrate his accomplishments as a physician, nutrition scientist, mentor, global activist, and founder of the International Nutrition Foundation. In addition to featured participants from the world of nutrition, science and global health, Dr. Susan Scrimshaw will speak on behalf of the Scrimshaw family. There will be time for other attendees to share their thoughts and feelings as well. The Tribute will be followed by a reception with light refreshments.

This year’s World Food Prize winner is Dr. Daniel Hillel for his role in conceiving and implementing a radically new mode of bringing water to crops i­­n arid and dry land regions – known as “micro-irrigation.” At World Food Prize ceremony, the UN Secretary-General called for new approaches to combat hunger http://ow.ly/eNTCA

Some of you may not be aware that Dr. Scrimshaw won the World Food Prize in 1991 for his work to alleviate malnutrition in developing nations, and this is a great video about his impact in the nutrition field.
